Welcome back followers of the fearsome!
This week we’ll be doing a quick look at implementing a penguin entity into the game! Penguins behave just like our lovable goats and can really deal out the punishment if the player plans their timing accordingly!
Getting the Penguins game ready was pretty easy because we grabbed our ready to go Goat AI and just changed some of the values! After a quick skeleton hook up and some animations our penguin was ready to be placed in our randomized chunks!
We don’t want to over do it with penguins but adding them to larger areas where the player can plan out a decent attack is a lot of fun. Penguins can even slide into other penguins creating a cascade of sliding stabbers!
Penguins add a fun level of strategy to those bigger fights. There’s nothing quite like baiting a group of badguys into the beak-line of a penguin and letting him go! Creating fun elements like this always gets us thinking about new things we can add to Viking Squad to get those fights fun and dynamic!
